orientation week....

okie...so yesterday was the first day of our orientation (med students only)...it will be held all through this week...although i wish we didn't have to have it so long, but i guess we aren't just stepping into a new classroom to listen to a few old people come in and drone...from what i see, it's going to be different....very different! (this isn't Kansas, Toto!)

yesterday, we met our dean Prof. Dr. Jammal who told us all kinds of reasons why we should opt out of medicine (low pay, hard...)...umm...ya...not exactly motivating are we?? XD but it was said all in good faith so can accept la, hor! ^-^ then we had a brief intro to the PBL sessions we will be having by Prof. Dr. Ogunbanjo...brief because he was happier telling us stories( the story of the tongue and teeth! gou! hahah!) and prancing around on stage animatedly...but he was inspiring like crazy! he seemed to really get into 'the feel' when he shared some of his experiences with us...cun! later we had to head to the library for course selection...something rather pointless i feel since all our subjects are compulsory anyway but there you go...

today we had a meeting with our torturers...i mean seniors! XD evil la they...they made us come out one by one and intro ourselves in front of a group of about 50 of them...most of the time we had to repeat whatever we had said because they were too focused on their on discussions and couldn't hear what we were saying...okie la...say true i don't enjoy this part of school...it's always the same...juniors are put on parade for the enjoyment of the seniors...boring...=.= but on a good note i found them nice also la...friendly and funny...^-^ have to meet them again on friday evening, though...it will be crazier and more degrading than today, i presume...@.@

next we were split into smaller groups and had our first PBL session...mine was with Dr. Ogunbanjo! yay! hahah! it was okie loh...we didn't know what we were supposed to 'solve' from the problem given which made it a little tough...the question we were discussing was about a college guy who got into an accident and was bleeding from his leg...one funny part was when the prof asked us what had happened to the guy's leg...so we answered stuff like 'it broke' or as one of my group members said 'he was bleeding because of pressure'...then i said maybe it was a fracture and the prof suddenly boomed "FRACTURE!! that was what i was looking for!"...walauwei! kek si lang!! i almost fell off the uncomfortable and backache inducing chair i was sitting on! =.= scared my half to death la, wei! @.@ after this intro of sorts i'm still a bit blur about how we are going to go about this PBL thingy, but getting there i guess! ^-^

later...went to lunch with a few of my classmates and winnie, too...finding it a little hard to remember so many names...=.= the best was micheal aka kah ming (hope i got the spelling right!)...sorry oh, wei! hahah! the joke is best said verbally so ask me the next time you see me la, hor! ^-^ now gotta go do my FEED poster for self-awareness tomorrow...feed! kindergarten betul! =.=
